It’s another beautiful week, one loaded with tons of blessings for you in Jesus name. What’s more, it’s the resurrection week. Hallelujah!!!

Our Bible reading for today’s meditation is Isaiah 60: 1-3 (NIV), which says, “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.”

Did you notice that? It’s referring to YOU. Yes, specifically you. You are to shine because your light has come.  ” What is the source of this light though? I really want to ‘arise and shine’ but my light is yet to come and nothing around me looks glorious anyway”. This may be your thoughts right now but it does not erase what God originally intended for you. If His words says it, it means it is obtainable but you also have a part to play.

God already knew about the darkness that will cover the earth; yet, He commands you to shine through the darkness as a result of His glory over your life. Think about it, light is not appreciated when there is no darkness. For instance, of what benefit would it be putting on a lamp in daylight? Pointless, right? Exactly! But the same lamp will be very useful when it’s dark and probably the provided lighting in that space is not sufficient enough.

The darkness and gloom that covers the earth is not new and certainly no longer news. Enough of explaining away your situation and attributing it to external forces such as your geographical location, family background, skin color, etc. God has ordained you, dear one as a shining light. What’s more, your light is supposed to be an attraction to nations and kings. It does not matter what your current situation looks like, God’s word says, your light will shine so bright that nations and kings will come to you. Amen !

There is a caveat though. You cannot shine in a place God has not ordained for you. When you identify God’s purpose for your life and you are walking in it, your shining comes through ‘effortlessly’. Now, that’s not to say you won’t encounter oppositions even on your God ordained path. The difference is that you’ll shine through the darkness, no matter how thick.
