Hello Amazing Reader,
Trust the new week has started out awesome already?
Over the weekend, my friends and I were talking about the need for believers to have Jesus Christ as the ultimate standard; not parents, friends, mentors or even pastors. I mean, it’s okay to look up to certain people, but having anyone as a standard for your walk with God is a no-no. When you allow people as your standards, their rights and wrongs become law to you, regardless of what God’s word says about it.
As one of my friends rightly pointed out, the moment you get born again, you are no longer human. You are now spirit because you have the Spirit of God dwelling in you; Romans 8:9. We should quit letting the devil lie to us that it is impossible to be perfect because certain people whom we look up to seem to have fallen off-track. The Bible is clear on the possibility of perfection. Matthew 5:48 (KJV) says, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”
One way to constantly ascertain the quality of your walk with God is to examine your ‘fruits’ regularly. Luke 6:44 (NIV) says, “Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers.”
As we go on in the new week, it’s time to re-direct our focus to Jesus; He remains the one and only standard.
