Hello Amazing Reader,
Today’s post is in honour of Ron Kenoly, who passed on to glory on February 3,2026.
When I heard the news of his passing earlier this week, my response was, “Thank you Lord for the life of Ron Kenoly.”
He was an American Christian worship leader, but his songs travelled across the globe. I remember singing “The Lord Be Magnified” as a little five-year-old girl, all the way in Northern Nigeria. I think we must have had all or almost all his video tapes (yes, videos and audio cassettes were a thing😂) in our home. I knew almost all his songs. I also particularly recall the Welcome Home album, where he shared the testimony of his sons returning to God. That stuck with me, perhaps because it was a personal testimony for him.
Fast forward to December 2024 at a crossover service, my family watched him minister live. It was such a blessing to see him. He mentioned that he had turned 80 years a few weeks prior and he was delighted to still sing and lead people in praise and worship. He sang “God is so good” first in English and then in many other languages, including Yoruba language. It was such an unforgettable moment!
I pray for God’s comfort for Ron Kenoly’s family and the body of Christ, as we’ll miss him here. However, we’re grateful to God for the impactful life he lived. He is now with Jesus, but his songs remain with us and they’ll yet bless many more generations.
Which of his songs are your favourites? Let’s know in the comments.
God’s blessings always,
Dammy
