Hello Amazing Reader,
It’s going to be a great week! You’ll win, you’ll conquer, and you’ll manifest God’s glory in Jesus name. We’ve got a guest post today, it’ll surely bless you.
Comparison just sucks the energy out of me every time I do it. It never encourages or pushes me to want to do better like I think it would. Comparison only steals our joy. It stops you from seeing how far you’ve come, how well you’re currently doing. Just don’t do it!
What’s the alternative then? Gratitude. To gratitude add determination, then consistency, lots of humility, and more gratitude. Think about how far you’ve come in your journey and how well you’re doing. The only reason you should think about how far someone else has come is to thank God for and pray for them. I have observed praying genuinely for others is a great way to deflect comparison and jealousy. And once you’re done praying, immediately move on from that thought.
Here are a few scriptures to help our understanding:
James 3:16 (NKJV) states, “For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.”
1 Timothy 6:6-8 (NLT) “Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content.”
Romans 12:10 (NLT) “Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.”
May God continually help us guard against the thief of comparison in Jesus name.
