Hello Amazing Reader,

I hope you’ve had a wonderful and productive week so far. I bless the name of the Lord for you and your loved ones. You are blessed!

To expand on my post in February about my learnings from Genesis chapters 1 to 2, I am reviewing this message that explains extensively and in depth some of the things I had shared.

This is a series by Pastor Tobore David of Salt City titled, The Ministry of Prosperity, and I am reviewing the first sermon in that series. One of the anchor scriptures Pastor Tobore shared in this message is Genesis 1:28.

“God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

He broke down the words used in this verse, stating that when God says ‘be’ here, He is commanding you, me, and us. He also defined ‘blessed’ as God putting on you the ability or endowing you with power. Blessed means God speaks well of you. He also highlighted that the first thing God did to man at creation was to bless man.

Breaking down the verse further, Pastor Tobore mentioned that the blessing or command is subsequential in nature, using five keywords in the command in Genesis 1:28.

  1. Be fruitful – means produce: God has given you the ability to produce. ‘Be’ is a state; it is not something you do but who you are. Fruitful is who you are. Wherever you are, fruitfulness abounds.
  2. Multiply: You multiply to the extent you are fruitful. You can’t multiply without being fruitful.
  3. Fill the earth: This is to the extent you are multiplying. Your multiplication is how you will fill the earth.
  4. Subdue the earth: It is the area you have filled that you can subdue.
  5. Have dominion: It is the places you have subdued that you can rule over. You can’t rule over where you haven’t been productive.

Finally, Pastor Tobore likened this Genesis 1:28 blessing to God commanding man to prosper. He expressly said prosperity is not a choice; it is a divine duty God has given to you, and it depends on you. God has given us resources to be fruitful. So, the earth is our responsibility. He went on to share that there are a lot of misconceptions about what prosperity really means, and he defined prosperity as fulfilling God’s dreams and not God meeting your needs. He said prosperity is a divine ability to use heaven’s resources to furnish your God-given assignment, and riches are too small to define prosperity. He shared these seven features of prosperity to buttress this point.

  1. Spiritual prosperity: Prosperity begins at salvation.
  2. Soul prosperity: This is when your emotions are governed by the word of God.
  3. Mental prosperity: When the wisdom of God is flowing through your mind.
  4. Body prosperity: This is being in good health. Sickness leaks wealth.
  5. Relational prosperity: This is having the right people around you, people who mean well for you.
  6. Financial prosperity: This is where material abundance comes into play.
  7. Fulfilment prosperity: Prosperity begins at salvation and ends where you have done what God gave you life to do.

The message is so powerful and packed that this review doesn’t do it justice. I had to remove so many profound statements and revelations that Pastor Tobore shared so it’s not too lengthy. I highly recommend this sermon and encourage you to watch the entire series.

God bless,
Dasola
