Have you met Victor yet? He’s been sharing with us how God delivered him from 8 years of drug addiction. He had tried to help himself severally, until he found God and guess where? 1nebody<\/strong>: How did you eventually experience your deliverance and what events led to\nthis?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VA<\/strong>: It happened in August 2019,\nprecisely August 16th<\/sup>. I was at a leadership summer camp, where I\nwas volunteering, and we had a worship session on the last night. Typically, I\nwouldn\u2019t have been present for a worship session, but I\u2019m sure God had arranged\nmy being there. I wasn\u2019t just present, I found myself lost in worship. I\nexperienced the palpable presence of God like never before. Through that\nsession, the veil covering my eyes fell off, and that night marked a new\nbeginning in my life. By the following day (Saturday), I realized I had not\nindulged the entire day. I was so excited, I immediately made up my mind to\nrespond to the altar call at church the following day. No, I wasn\u2019t going to\nhave it the Nicodemus way, I decided that I would publicly respond to the call.\nFor the first time in my life, I cared less about what my friends would think\nof me. Then came 18th<\/sup> August 2019, I rededicated my life to Christ\npublicly, and I haven\u2019t had a cause to look back, all thanks to the help of God.\nPlus, the thought alone became so repulsive to me; I knew I had been delivered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1nebody<\/strong>: Wow, what an amazing testimony!\nCongratulations, over and over again. How about your friends though? Did you\nget a chance to share your testimony with them? Have they also turned their\nlives over to God?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VA<\/strong>: You know, I was so popular in my\ncommunity that the news of my new life spread so fast. Before I had a chance to\ntell most of them, they had heard about my testimony. To the extent that, some\nof them came looking for me, just to verify. They could tell that something\ngreat had happened to me, because I kept mentioning God in almost every\nstatement I made. It was then I understood the scripture about light and\ndarkness, not being able to co-exist. Many of them who weren\u2019t ready to give up\ntheir ways suddenly stopped speaking to me. However, I still pray for them and\nI trust God to reveal Himself to them, like He did to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1nebody<\/strong>: Amen to that. Do you have any\nadmonition for teenagers, young adolescents and in fact anyone who is currently\nin the web of addiction but does not know how to come out of it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VA<\/strong>: From my experience, I realized many\npeople who indulge, don\u2019t exactly like it, but the devil lies to them that they\ncannot come out of it. Also, some people try to help themselves to stop, like I\nfound myself doing. But, self-will is not enough. The first step is to\nsurrender to Christ, so He can help you. Then, seek counsel from your spiritual\nleaders- your pastor, a mentor, your parents (maybe), people who won\u2019t\ncastigate you. Also, you might feel you\u2019ve gone too far to return. You know\nwhile I indulged, I used to say that one thing must kill a man-smoking,\ndrinking, womanizing\u2026 But looking back, I realize it was all the devil\u2019s\nattempt at making me feel comfortable in the addiction web. You don\u2019t have to\nbe that person. You can be free, there is a way out in God. Can you picture\nyourself in the next five to ten years, having a family and children? Would you\nlike to see your children see you smoking or high on drugs? The answer is\nsurrendering to Christ. He is the only one that can help you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1nebody<\/strong>: Hmm, no wonder the Bible says we\ncan do nothing without the help of God. Could you speak to the parent\/guardian reading\nthis, who has a child\/niece\/nephew\/ward\/cousin\/friend in the addiction web?\nWhat should such a person do?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VA<\/strong>: My mum was such a blessing\nthroughout the process. I remember her coming to my room at nights, asking us\nto pray together. Mind you, most of this time, I was high and she knew, but she\ndidn\u2019t stop praying for me. I shouted at her many times and asked her to leave,\nbut she always came back. I can\u2019t imagine if she didn\u2019t persevere. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My first admonition for you dear\nparent is to be consistent and persistent in praying for that child. Remember\nGod gave him\/her to you in the first place- you should surrender that child\nback to God. Please don\u2019t write your child off because you don\u2019t have the\nability to change them. Don\u2019t stop praying; don\u2019t stop advising;  don\u2019t stop encouraging that child. In\naddition, speak positive about your child. You can\u2019t keep speaking negatively\nabout your child and expect a positive change. Remember, Proverbs 23:7, \u201cAs a\nman thinketh in his heart, so is he.\u201d Keep speaking positive and soon enough,\nyou would see the effect in your child\u2019s life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1nebody: Amen! <\/strong> We believe\nGod that there would be waves of deliverance testimonies all over the world,\nthrough your testimony. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

VA<\/strong>: Yes, I\ntrust God to make it happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1nebody<\/strong>:  It\u2019s been\nsuch a phenomenal session, thank you so much for sharing with us. We need to\nbring this to a close, is there anything else you would like to add.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VA: Oh yes.\nI\u2019d hoped for this opportunity.  This is\nespecially to teenagers and young adults, your friends determine a lot about\nyour life. A wrong set of friends could cost a person his\/her life. It\u2019s not\nout of place to ask God for the gift of good and spiritual friends, who will\nsharpen you up, as you do likewise.  Let\u2019s\nnot forget what Jesus said in the Bible that he has the power to lay it down\nand the power to take it again. In like manner, you have the power to say no to\nwrong association and take up right and good association. Thank you so much for\nhaving me.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
