Allow me 😁. So, when I heard this song for the first time, I thought the start sounded like an old Nollywood, Igbo village setting soundtrack. If you are Nigerian and you watch Nigerian movies, you know what I am talking about, lol. So, I hear that sound at the start, and then I hear ‘Oluwatosin.’ I was confused. If you are confused about confusion, I don’t blame you.

Story over! I hope you enjoyed the short story, and I hope I am not alone in this old Nollywood movie feeling.

Back to the review!

Oluwatosin is a beautiful song. Simple and melodic with a powerful message. Oluwatosin is Yoruba, and a very common Yoruba name that has lost its meaning and can easily be overlooked. However, after I heard this song, I carry that name with so much respect. The song broke down the true meaning of the name. The translation is exactly the next line in the chorus, ‘Jesus is enough for me.’ The literal translation would be ‘God is enough to be worshipped or praised.’ Another variation of the name is Oluwatomisin, which just personalises Oluwatosin, or it could also be translated to mean ‘I am satisfied serving God.’

Oluwatosin, Oluwatosin
The Jesus that I know is enough for me
Oluwatosin, Oluwatosin, oh
The Jesus that I know is enough for me, eh

Oluwatosin is that song that you can worship and dance to at the same time. It is officially my Song of the Year. This song gave life and a newness to a name most of us call without thinking of the meaning behind it.

Jesus, You’re my everything (everything)
You’re the light that shines through me
You are the treasure that I have
In You, I’m truly satisfied (O tomi)

I hope that we are all truly satisfied in Jesus and that He is more than enough for us in a generation that no longer recognises what satisfaction is, and we are constantly seeking validation and acceptance.
