Moody. I had heard quite a lot about the author, but it was my first time reading any of his books. It was a timely read for me and I’ve been so blessed reading it with the book club community.

One of the lessons we learned from the book is that thanksgiving is one of the nine elements of prayer. The author states that thanksgiving is one of the most underutilized aspects of prayer. He asked readers to pay attention to the thankful life of Apostle Paul in scriptures. He was the most persecuted apostle, yet he was the most thankful. He wrote many of his letters while going through one unpleasant experience or another, yet he would always encourage the church to be thankful.

He wrote the book of Philippians from the prison. Yet, it’s one of the most quoted scriptures on thanksgiving.

Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God.

PHILIPPIANS 4:6 (amp)

D.L. Moody, also stated in this book that there’s always something to be thankful for.

Worry and anxiety are only strategies that the enemy uses to take advantage of believers. He knows that when we choose gratitude and thanksgiving despite the happenings around us, we attract God’s attention.

If you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, that’s a good place to begin. Please say this prayer if you want to begin a new life with Jesus:

Dear Jesus, I accept you today as my Lord and personal Saviour.
