Today’s meditation centers on prophetic help. But first, do you have a prophet?

By prophet, I don’t mean those who have commercialized the title and make a living off desperate people. But a genuine servant of God who can speak over your life by the Spirit of God.

Ezra 5 presents the account of Joshua and Zerubbabel, building the house of God in Jerusalem. While at it, they faced stiff opposition from top government officials who demanded to know why they were building and under whose authority they were doing so. But guess what? They couldn’t be stopped because they had Prophets Haggai and Zechariah with them, supporting them. Ezra 5:2 (KJV) states, “Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem: and with them were the prophets of God helping them.”

Reading through to the end of chapter, we discover that because of the help they received through their prophets, they were able to complete the building of the temple, in spite of the opposition.

Those whom God has placed over us as shepherds have been bestowed with grace to speak over our lives and prophetically help us to our next phase in life. However, we have a duty to identify these prophet(s), receive his/her person before we can be blessed through their ministry; Matthew 10:41.

But there are so many pastors today, how can I know the one who will genuinely be a blessing to me?
