Ever found yourself in a situation where you are overly confident about getting something?

Some weeks ago, while listening to a message, I heard the Pastor say, “many times your qualification is what disqualifies you before God.” (Whatttttttt!!!! That was a thunderbolt moment for me). As I thought about it, I realized how true it is.

You may have been praying about a particular situation alright, but somewhere at the back of your mind, you feel you can get it by your expertise.

Scenario: You applied for a job. Looking through the requirements, you meet and even surpass all of it.  They should call me up already, I’m about the most suitable candidate to fill up this position, you say to yourself. In fact, you don’t think you should pray about it as it is crystal clear that you merit the position going by all you’ve got.

Well, this is a vivid example of trusting in your own ability and at the end of it, you are very unlikely to get the job. Not because God doesn’t want the best for you but He needs you to remember that except He is involved, your labour is in vain. This is applicable in all areas, not just career wise. Isn’t that what the Bible says in Psalm 127:1 (KJV), “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it; except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.” Proverbs 21:31 (KJV) also corroborates this, “The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord.”

It’s time to lay all of your ‘qualifications’ at His feet. Ask Him to forgive you for trusting in your own strength. Genuinely ask that He grants you that desire by His favour, mercy and grace.

This week and beyond, be intentional about trusting him with reckless abandon concerning that desire and He’ll make it happen for you.

Have yourself a wonderful week.

God’s blessings always,
Dammy
