Hello Amazing Reader,
Welcome to a new working week. Trust you had a restful weekend. Our meditation for the week is the authority of a believer.
Some years ago, I saw this scenario play out. A little boy, maybe 5-7 years old, was being chased by a local dog. Oh, he cried. He also ran as fast as he could to get to an older person. As soon as this lady saw him running towards her, she picked up a stone and pointed it in the direction of the dog. Seeing this, the dog stopped the chase and ran for its own safety instead.
It’s been more than 10 years since this incident, but it’s evergreen in my memory because the Holy Spirit used it to teach me an important lesson.
The boy being chased is the ignorant believer; the dog symbolizes the devil, and the adult with the stone is the believer who knows and exercises their authority.
The devil won’t leave you simply because you’re crying and running around for help. He only retreats when he realizes you’re speaking and acting from a place of authority.
Ponder on these:
Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Luke 10:19 (NKJV)
and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
Ephesians 2:6 (NKJV)
These scriptures describe you. As a believer, you’re not a prey; you have authority. Jesus’ death and resurrection has given you a degree of authority. But you have a responsibility to continue to increase your level of authority. Some ways to achieve this include: a diligent and committed study of the word of God, and prayers.
If you’re yet to make Jesus the Lord of your life, this authority doesn’t apply to you yet. But it can, the moment you choose to accept Jesus into your life.
Please say this prayer with faith:
Dear Jesus, I accept you today as my Lord and personal Saviour. I confess that I have sinned; please forgive me. I believe that you died and rose again for me. By your blood, cleanse me from every unrighteousness. Thank you for the new life you have given me, help me to serve you all the days of my life. Ultimately, please help me make it to eternity with you, in Jesus' name. Amen.
Congratulations, heaven rejoices over you! If you said this prayer and would like additional information/guidance, please send an email to 1nebodyblog@gmail.com.
Now that you know or have been reminded that you’re not the devil’s prey, go on and exercise your authority in Jesus name!
God’s blessings always,
Dammy
