Hello 1nebody,

Can you believe we are at the end of another week?! God be praised! He remains faithful and we are forever grateful for His overwhelming love. Lord, we have come to say thank you!

Peter on Water

This was the sermon from 2 Sundays ago at my church, The Liberty Church, and one of the anchor scriptures was from Matthew 14:26-32 NKJV.

“And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”

And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw [c]that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.”

The account of Peter walking on water is a very popular one. However, Pastor Sola brought a new perspective to it. Peter wasn’t the only one in this boat when Jesus addressed them not to be afraid. But it was only Peter who yearned to become like Christ in his experience. He wanted to walk on water just like Jesus had. This was the key theme in the message, the fact that most Christians know the Word of God but never actually experience the true power of the Word (2 Timothy 3:7).

Meditation

Pastor Sola stressed that transformation only comes when we become like Christ in our experiences when the written Word becomes the spoken Word. What does that mean? He pointed out that when we meditate on the Word of God, we give the written Word to come to life and we become transformed through revelation. The important thing here is mediation. Pastor Sola analysed meditation as knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. However, wisdom only comes through application and application brings the manifestation of the power of God. We have to practice(application) the Word of God to experience the manifestation. According to Pastor Sola, failures are part of practising the Word of God. A case in point is Peter, he may have sunk, but he remains the only one who practised the Word and in turn, experienced the true power of the Word on that boat.

The Secret

This is the secret to having more testimonies – yearning to become more like Christ in all of our life experiences. Pastor Sola shared 7 keys to having more testimonies;

  1. Application of the Word.
  2. Experiencing God: Pastor Sola asked if you are a theoretician or practitioner. What do you think? Do you just know the Word or do you actually put into practice what the Word says? Do you pray to actually heal the sick? Do you prophesy with intent and expectation?
  3. Step out and obey God: Testimonies come when you take on the test.
  4. Avoid the fear of failing.
  5. Turn your test into testimony.
  6. Be submissive during suffering: Allow yourself to be led into the wilderness.
  7. Repeating the class: You keep repeating the class until you have learnt what God wants you to learn and have put it into practice.

I will encourage you to watch the full sermon and I pray that you will be blessed by it.

God bless,

Dasola
