Hello 1nebody Community,

It’s my privilege to share yet another meditation with you, I believe it’ll bless you.

In Matthew 18:1, the disciples asked Jesus a question that honestly feels so human:

“Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”

Now, if I were to guess the answer, I’d have thought Jesus would say something like, “the one who evangelizes the most”or “the one who performs great miracles” or “the one who prays the longest,” or “the one who does the most good works.” But nope, His response was nothing close to what I expected.

In verse 3, Jesus says:

“Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.”

That made me pause. Why children? Why is their nature such an important prerequisite for the kingdom?

Think about it, children live freely. They laugh without worrying who’s watching. They forgive quickly and don’t hold grudges. They live with curiosity, asking endless questions, exploring without fear. They trust easily, and they depend without shame.

But life has a way of stealing that childlikeness from us through disappointments, failures, heartbreaks, and even adulthood responsibilities make us guarded. We learn to second-guess, to doubt, to “play it safe.” And yet, Jesus is inviting us back to that posture. To live with trust, freedom, curiosity, and dependence on Him, just like a child.

This shows us that greatness in God’s kingdom isn’t about performance; it’s about posture.

Accepting Jesus into your heart also involves your child-like faith. You must confess and accept Christ, whom you cannot see into your heart before becoming a child of God.

Please say this prayer if you would like to receive Jesus into your heart:

Dear Jesus, I accept you today as my Lord and personal Saviour. I confess that I have sinned; please forgive me. I believe that you died and rose again for me. By your blood, cleanse me from every unrighteousness. Thank you for the new life you have given me, help me to serve you all the days of my life. Ultimately, please help me make it to eternity with you, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Congratulations, heaven rejoices over you!

As you begin this new week, I’d like you to reflect on this: what part of your childlikeness (freedom, curiosity, trust or forgiveness) has life stolen from you? How will you begin to reclaim it in your walk with God?

Have a blessed week,

Adenike
