Hello 1nebody Community,
I hope the year has been off to a glorious start for everyone. It is good to be back this year, sharing from God’s word. I pray that today’s message refuels us for the journey ahead in Jesus name, Amen!
Today’s meditation is simple. I am reviewing Genesis 1 & 2, and sharing a few key takeaways and questions to reflect on. The lessons are from my personal devotions and are not exhaustive. I encourage you to share your lessons from these chapters in the comment section.
Genesis, chapters 1 to 2, centres on the creation of the world. It takes us through the account of how God made the heavens and earth, and everything in them.
Key Takeaways
We have heard this so many times that we are God’s representatives on earth. God intended for us not only to be carriers of His power and creativity in the world He created, but He also purposed for us to cultivate it. He gave us the authority and responsibility to be managers who share the same love and passion for all His creations. Contrary to the selfish human nature, the well-being of the world (everyone and everything in it) is our responsibility. We are made to take actions and decisions that benefit others and the world at large.
“So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
Genesis 1:27-28 NIV
Q: In what ways are you replenishing God’s world? How can you be intentional and God-minded about the value you add?
The second lesson I want to draw out is proclamations, speaking things to life which align with God’s heart. Throughout Chapter 1, God exemplified this for us and then in Chapter 2, Adam replicated this attribute of God. God spoke everything into existence (Genesis 1:3, 6, 9, 11, 14, 20, 24 and 26) and He gave Adam the power to name all the animals, and whatever name he gave them was sealed. If you remain connected to your source (God), He will give you more opportunities to partner with Him, like Adam did to activate the power in your words.
“Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals.”
Genesis 2:19-20
Q: What names are you giving to your season and situation? How can you ensure that you are replicating this attribute of God over your life, ministry, family, and nation?
Finally, God has prepared everything you need to accomplish His assignment for you, but He is waiting on you to step out and accept His plans for you, and then He launches everything in seasons. In Genesis 2:5, the Bible says the earth had not yielded its fruits because God had not sent rain, and there was no one to work the ground. God had not sent the rain yet because He had not created Adam, who would work the ground and take care of the plants.
“Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth[a] and no plant had yet sprung up, for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no one to work the ground,”
Genesis 2:5
Q: Where do you need to step out and let God launch your pre-defined blessings?
Before I go, if you are not connected to the source (God), you run at a loss. You need God to experience and enjoy the life I speak of in today’s message. I invite you to say the prayer of salvation below and ask God to take you back.
Dear Jesus, I accept you today as my Lord and personal Saviour. I confess that I have sinned; please forgive me. I believe that you died and rose again for me. By your blood, cleanse me from every unrighteousness. Thank you for the new life you have given me, help me to serve you all the days of my life. Ultimately, please help me make it to eternity with you, in Jesus' name. Amen.
Congratulations, heaven rejoices over you! If you said this prayer and would like additional information/guidance, please send an email to 1nebodyblog@gmail.com.
God bless,
Dasola
