The history of the pentecostal movement in Nigeria (particularly) would be incomplete without the mention of Archbishop Benson Idahosa (of blessed memory). Although he is no longer on earth physically, his legacies are still very much with us.

A few weeks ago, I listened to this message. It was the first of his messages, I ever got to listen to even though I had previously heard so much about him.Having had an experience for myself, I clearly revere  him a lot more and strongly recommend you also watch this.

This message lasts about 55 minutes and was preached in the 1980’s. Well over 30 years ago, yet it is still as fresh and pungent. In this message, the Archbishop stresses on the importance of a power-branded church. One which the devil and his demons would be afraid of because of the  demonstration of God’s power. Gleaning from 2 Kings 1 & 2; we are shown how Prophet Elijah made a show of His God so much so that his enemies came to terms and confessed that he was indeed a man of God. In Papa Idahosa’s words, ‘you cannot have a sound christian testimony without power.’

Furthermore, he said the essence of Christianity is captured in Matthew 10:7 which says, ‘Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils…‘ He shares several testimonies of the demonstration of God’s power through him. At the time this sermon was preached;  eight dead people had been raised, millions of souls had been saved, several sick people had been healed. The much talked about global gathering of witches which was to hold in Benin city, Nigeria was foiled because this man of God stood against it.

In summary, ‘it is time for the devil and his demons to know you as a man/woman of God.’ Go out and heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, preach the gospel and pray every unsaved person around you out of the bondage of darkness into God’s marvellous light.

Who’s ready to be a power-brand christian?

God’s blessings always,
Dammy
