The life and ministry of Archbishop Benson Idahosa typifies  Psalm 112:1-2; ‘…Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon the earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.’

20 years after his demise, the seed of Papa Idahosa still speaks loudly on the earth. This edition is dedicated to the 50th anniversary celebration of the Church of God Mission International.

The history of Pentecostal movement in Africa would be incomplete without the mention of Archbishop Benson Andrew Idahosa (of blessed memory); founder of Church of God Mission (CGM) International. This servant of God was mightily used to bring about a wave of revival across Nigeria, Africa and world over.

Several firsts in Nigeria’s Pentecostal movement are attributed to him till date. He started televangelism as well as prosperity and faith teachings. Through his life and ministry, he showed others the nothingness of the devil and how they can gain mastery by faith in the word of God.

His testimonies still reverberate in the body of Christ today. Notable among them is the world conference of witches which he prevented from taking place in Benin City, Nigeria;in spite of open confrontations by the witches. God used him to raise 28 dead people back to life, restore sight to the blind, among others.

In our last review, we saw how at the start of CGM, people gave it five weeks to survive but that did not deter him. Today, we not only have the first branch still standing, there are several branches of CGM across the nations of the world. Not just that, there are other offshoots of the Ministry as well. These include the educational arm, comprising Word of Faith Group of Schools and Benson Idahosa University, Faith Mediplex (a health facility), all Nations for Christ Bible Institute.

We join the rest of the world in celebrating with CGM International.  Many more heights in Jesus name (see details of the anniversary celebration).
