Hello Victorious One,
Thank God for the start of another week, the last in April 2020. May the crowning blessings of this month locate you and yours in the name of Jesus.
Before Jesus left the earth, one of the gifts He promised to give the disciples (and today’s believers by extension) is perfect peace. The Passion Translation crafts this promise beautifully in John 14:27– “I leave the gift of peace with you-my peace. Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world, but my perfect peace. Don’t yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts-instead be courageous!”
What an assurance! Jesus knew we would be swayed by the fragile peace that we seek through our careers, relationships, financial investments, and so on. But, He quickly points out that He’s not referring to that order of peace. He has a gift of perfect peace for you and I, by virtue of the Holy Spirit at work in us.
This isn’t to say we won’t be faced with challenges, not at all. In fact, the world is collectively troubled, but amidst this, there’s the gift of perfect peace reserved for those who care to receive it from Jesus. Such that, in the face of turbulence we find peace in the knowledge that God is with us. We have been given this gift already, but it’s our choice to accept Jesus and receive the accompanying gift of His perfect peace or not.
Let’s pray-Dear God, thank you for the gift of your son Jesus. Thank you for the Holy Spirit as well, who is always with me. Today, I receive the help He has for me. I receive the perfect peace that comes with knowing Him. In spite of the happenings world over, I refuse to give in to fear. Instead, I am bold and courageous in Jesus name; Amen!
