Hello Amazing Reader,
Welcome to March! May God’s presence be with you throughout the month and beyond, in Jesus name.
Two weeks ago, we learned about how God’s presence brings us into favour. I trust that we’re beginning to enjoy new levels of favour as we carry God’s presence.
In today’s meditation, let’s explore another lesson from Joseph’s story. While in Potiphar’s house, he was put in charge of the other servants. Genesis 39:4 (NKJV), “So Joseph found favor in his sight, and served him. Then he made him overseer of his house, and all that he had he put under his authority.”
Was there something about Joseph’s conduct that set him apart and made him the leader of other servants?
In Genesis 39:20-23, Joseph was thrown into prison for a crime he didn’t commit. Even there, he stood out and was put in charge of other prisoners.
The warden committed to Joseph’s care (management) all the prisoners who were in the prison; so that whatever was done there, he was in charge of it.
Genesis 39:22 (Amplified)
There must have been something about Joseph that set him apart wherever he went. Yes, God’s presence caused him to enjoy favour, but he also had a part to play. He was diligent at whatever was committed to him and executed his tasks with excellence.
God’s presence with us will surely open great doors of favour to us, but we also have a responsibility to be excellent at what we do so that the doors can stay open. “How can I attain excellence?”
Let’s examine two ways:
1. Continue to seek knowledge: Things can always be done better and differently. I encourage you to expand your knowledge base. Learn from those around you (superiors, subordinates and peers), take courses, maybe get an additional degree, etc. This will be different for each person, but by all means, avoid being complacent in your job, business or ministry.
2. Ask God for wisdom: The best of man’s wisdom cannot be compared with the lowest level of God’s wisdom. As you seek knowledge, there is a danger of feeling prideful and thinking you know it all. Please, always consult with God. Ask Him the big questions, the small ones, and those in between. When you operate in His wisdom, your outputs will be excellent.
In summary, God’s presence will bring you into favour. While enjoying His favour, seek to be excellent at what you do, and always ask God for wisdom.
If you are yet to be born again, today is a great day to accept Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour. You cannot carry His presence unless you are born again. Are you ready to surrender your life to Jesus?
Please say this prayer:
Dear Jesus, I accept you today as my Lord and personal Saviour. I confess that I have sinned, please forgive me. I believe that you died and rose again for me. By your blood, cleanse me from every unrighteousness. Thank you for the new life you have given me, help me to serve you all the days of my life. Ultimately, please help me make it to eternity with you, in Jesus name. Amen
