It’s 30th October, the end of the year is upon us. Precisely ,62 days to the end of the year. Are you washing your net already and saying ‘just maybe 2017 wasn’t for me. The 10th month has just one day left asides today. What more could happen that shouldn’t have already.’ You’re not alone dear one. Let’s see a similar scenario from today’s reading in Luke 5:1-11; New International Version

Simon Peter and his friend being professional fishermen knew the best time to fish was at night. Imagine they had several years of experience in this business. However, on a particular occasion, they had gone fishing but this time, it was so not a good outing. Not even a fingerling in their nets. ‘Let’s wash up’, Simon must have suggested to his fishing buddy after a long and fruitless night. While they washed, Jesus showed up, sat in Simon’s boat to teach the crowd. Verse 4 says, ‘When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”

In a bid to make Jesus understand the situation, Simon thought to explain to Him,“…Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” (Verse 5) Just because you have said so, master. I really don’t intend to argue with you. Let me show you just a bit of what we’ve been through all night; Simon must have thought.

They plunged in again and this time, it was a net-breaking and boat-sinking catch. They even had to get help from other fishermen around. Note that it was in the same Lake of Gennesaret not another.

God is not done with you dear one. Don’t wash up just yet. He’ll come through for you in this same year. In the same place where you have been let down, faced disappointments, given a negative verdict; God is saying to you like he said to Simon, ‘Let down the nets for a catch‘ . A great catch awaits you. You’ll have to beckon on the same ones who saw you go through that set back. This time they will join you in ‘carrying’ the blessings.

Don’t wash your net just yet, okay? Good morning and have yourself a blessed week .

God’s blessings always,

Dammy
