Hello,

How are you doing today? I hope you had a great weekend and are looking forward to the rest of the week/month/year. May the Lord make it one to remember for good, in Jesus name, Amen.

Today, we are going to talk about trust and confidence. According to Cambridge Dictionary, trust is the hope and expectation that something is true. So, what does it mean to trust? Citing the same reference, to trust someone is to believe that they are good and honest and will not harm you, or that something is safe and reliable.

The thing is, I am a very shy person and I was thinking recently about the level of confidence some people have, and how boldly they carry themselves. You can see, hear, and feel that confidence when they talk or through their expressions. Why are some people more confident than others? I think it is because they have a strong belief in themselves, and in their abilities. Some people might argue that extroverts tend to be more confident than introverts and maybe attribute confidence to different character traits. But I have come to realise that the courage people have to be themselves and face life comes from a stronger belief or foundation. As believers, ours come from God because he is the source of our strength. And showing that confidence means we trust God.

I believe the highest form of expression of our trust in God is confidence. 1 John 5:14-15 KJV reads “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: and if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” Having confidence in all that we do is the best way we can show God our unwavering trust in him. When all fails, having that confidence to live like all is well. The boldness to face to forget what everyone thinks or what people might say and do what pleases God.

Lastly, I don’t believe confidence is inbuilt, it is something that you master by challenging yourself, practising, and believing again and again until it becomes a part of you. When Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 3:4-5 said that we are confident because our competence is from God, he meant trust and confidence go hand in hand. And this is something you have to always remind yourself every day, if you trust God, don’t cower away like you don’t. Let your confidence burst out and finally express that boldness as a lion that the bible talks about.

God bless,

Dasola
