Hello Amazing Reader,

It’s always a pleasure to have you stop by and be blessed through this platforrm.

In the spirit of the mother’s day celebration which was marked in North America last weekend, today’s post is dedicated everyone parenting or caring for children – biological mothers, foster mothers, single mothers, fathers (who play dual roles of fathers and mothers), grandparents , great grandparents, and so on.

I’m reviewing a Women of Faith episode, Lessons Learned in Motherhood. This episode is an interview with Priscilla Shirer and her late mother, Lois Evans. It was originally broadcast in 2018 for the mother’s day celebration and was rebroadcast for this year’s mother’s day. It didn’t feel like a four year old broadcast, because the lessons are still relevant.

I thought I accidentally ‘stumbled’ on this episode, but after watching it I realized that God had me watch it. It blessed my soul and encouraged me as a young mother. Here are some of my takeaways:

Raising children is in itself a ministry:

For Lois Evans, God had told her from early on that her children were her ministry and this helped her to stay focused in her calling.

You don’t have to be perfect, just be consistent:

Lois and Priscilla emphasized that you don’t have to strive to be that parent who has it all together, but you can choose to be consistent at what you do for and with your children. This can range from reading Bible stories to them, to having family traditions, having meals together, and so on. You could take a cue from something your parents or grandparents did with you, or start something yourself.

Do parenting for His name sake and in His name.

Lois stressed this as well and I’m running with it by God’s grace.

We don’t do parenting carelessly, and just for the sake of it. We must do it for the honour of God’s name and also in His name. She read from Isaiah 59:21 (The Message) to further buttress this point,

“As for me,” God says, “this is my covenant with them: My Spirit that I’ve placed upon you and the words that I’ve given you to speak, they’re not going to leave your mouths nor the mouths of your children nor the mouths of your grandchildren. You will keep repeating these words and won’t ever stop.” God’s orders.

This is a recommended watch for everyone who wants to parent God’s way. Regardless of where you are in your journey, there’s something for you on this episode.

Praying you God’s help on your parenting journey,

Dammy
